Fisker makes a save

When the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act was approved, people who buy non-North America-made electric vehicles will be ineligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs. In addition, those who have reserved non-North America-made EVs coming out from 2023 will also be affected, including the over 40,000 Fisker Ocean U.S. reservation holders.

But Fisker (NYSE: FSR) has acted fast, and CEO Henrik Fisker announced that its reservation holders for the Fisker Ocean could convert their reservation deposits into orders to retain access to the current tax credit. Fisker is building the Fisker Ocean in the Magna carbon-neutral factory, one of the world’s most sustainable production facilities, in Graz, Austria.

Fisker EV has a Vision

Get ready, Fisker started accepting preorders for its Ocean and PEAR models. Ocean models are slatted for delivery later in 2022 and the PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) in 2024. The California-based EV manufacturer says it is working to make the trade-in process smooth and stress-free.

Cox Automotive has partnered with Fisker to develop its digital experience. The companies first offered the trade-in option and services such as credit app ordering in the U.K. last year. They are now expanding their agreement to deliver those services to U.S. customers, who will be able to initiate trade-ins through Fisker’s Flexee app and website.

Reserve Your EV

The California-based EV automaker Fisker is gaining ground. Its first vehicle, the Ocean, is scheduled for release in November 2022, and already has over 30,000 reservations.

Fisker is ready to roll out its second EV which is named PEAR. The starting price of PEAR is just under $30K. Consumers can start making reservations for the five-passenger, zero-emissions, urban EV with a $250 deposit for the first reservation and $100 for the second reservation. Delivery for PEARs are scheduled to begin in 2024.
