California may allow consumers to buy cannabis directly from cultivators at farmers’ markets. The state’s Assembly Committee has passed the bill looking to make that happen. The new cannabis bill will allow small cultivators to sell their products to consumers at eight cannabis farmers’ markets a year to help them deal with times of financial difficulties, one of which they currently face.
California cannabis farmers have been facing financial difficulties since last June, when the prices of their products started falling. They witnessed the worst price drop on April 15, according to Cannabis Benchmarks. First, however, it will have to pass through the Assembly Appropriations Committee and the full Assembly Chamber and up to the Governor’s desk to become a law.
