The social media app called TikTok went viral during the Covid lockdown period beginning in 2020. But could the popular tech app be granting the Chinese government access to data about its users? According to Buzzfeed News, engineers in China accessed U.S. users’ data between September 2021 and January 2022. Brendan Carr, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner, is urging the leaders of Apple and Google to ban TikTok from their app stores.
