If you love chocolate, you will not love what researchers have to say about global warming and cocoa crops.
Cocao prices reached a record high this Valentines Day. According to a report from CBS News, in May 2023 the price was $2980 per pound and it has skyrocketed to $7300 per pound in January 2025. Ignoring and/or lying about the existence of global warming is beyond stupid at this stage. It’s a proven fact that scientists have been predicting for over 40 years.
“Climate change is threatening the existence of cocoa farmers and their sources of livelihoods,” says cocoa farmer Emmanuel Essah-Mensah from Ghana, who advises several hundred cocoa farms.
We are leaning into the direction of a life without chocolate, and so much more. Higher cocoa prices are a canary in the coal mine, and as humans, we can act to prevent this catastrophe. Call and write to your elected representative and vote only for those who will not lie that global warming exists and is harmful to all life on Earth. You have a voice and it’s needed now more than ever.
