Finally, on Wednesday, the U.S. Interior Department announced that 5 companies have been selected to provide clean wind energy for roughly 1.6 million homes. Two sites are in the Pacific Ocean waters near Eureka and the other three are near Moro Bay.
Earlier this year, The Department auctioned six leases off the coasts of New York and New Jersey. According to the Wind Energy Foundation, wind and windmills have been an effective form of energy for over 7,000 years.
