In December, GM and ChargePoint made public that they are partnering to install nearly 500 ultra-fast charging ports in the US and are calling them GM Energy locations. They define ultra-fast charging as having 500kW speeds. The new charging locations are expected to be ready by the end of 2025.
ChargePoint is an 18-year-old California-based company (CHPT on NYSE) and a leader in EV charging stations. It operates in 14 countries with about 400,000 EV charging stations globally. It employs about 1600 people.
GM had strong 2024 vehicle sales, and its EV sales were up 50% from 2023. It looks like both GM and ChargePoint are ready to scale their operations in the clean energy sector, and that’s great news!
