As of September 2024, the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France and 11 other countries have banned the TikTok app from government devices. On December 6, the US Federal Appeals court ruled that the Chinese owned company would need to be sold by January 19, 2025.
The ruling says that Byte-Dance, the parent company of TikTok, will need to sell its US operations to a non-Chinese owner or be banned completely from the United States.
TikTok has been covered by AGREEN1 for two years. The US government believes the app is a major security threat, as all Chinese companies are required to give all information a business has if the Chinese government requests it.
