Green jobs across the U.S. energy sector spiked in 2021, according to the 2022 U.S. Energy and Employment Report (USEER) the U.S. Department of Energy released last week. Jobs in the EV and hybrid vehicle sectors increased by over 124.9% compared to 2020. The renewable electricity generation sector also saw about a 20.3% job increase. Conversely, jobs within the fossil fuel and nuclear energy sectors dropped significantly, as signs that the energy sector is greening.
Overall, the U.S. energy sector added more than 300,000 jobs in 2021, about a 4% increase from 2020 and more than the total U.S. employment growth of 2.8% last year.
