Billionaire philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple founder Steve Jobs, has selected California’s Secretary for Environmental Protection, Jared Blumenfeld to lead her climate cause. In September 2021, Powell Jobs pledged to spend $3.5 billion over ten years through her charity organization to address climate change in underserved communities worldwide.
Jared Blumenfeld will resign from office by the end of the month to lead the Waverley Street Foundation as president. He will work with Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environment and social initiatives and former chief of the Environmental Protection Agency, who will also chair the charity organization.
