When another disaster hits the U.S., a new Los Angeles-based sustainable prefab-home manufacturer, Vika Living is ensuring that people will have access to shelter relief. Since founding Vika Living in September 2021, owners Scott Kevern and Jeff Howard have been setting up the prefab company to be able to deploy its tiny homes for shelter relief during emergencies.
But the prefab home, which has a sustainable version and can serve single people up to a family of more than two, comes with everything people need for comfort. Its spacious living room has seating that converts to bedding and a table that collapses the wall. It also features a full kitchen, shelving, and a bathroom. The sustainable version, priced at just over $46,000, comes with solar panels and storage batteries. The non-sustainable version costs $38,000. The prefab home has already attracted interest from campground owners and other outdoor organizations and can help relieve homelessness.
