Elon Musk’s renewable energy utility plans in Texas are gradually coming to fruition. Tesla Energy Ventures has already been offering retail electric services in select areas in the Lone Star State. Tesla customers can use the Powerwall battery storage system to save and collect excess energy generated from the sun.
The launch of Tesla Electric, a utility plan that would enable select Powerwall owners to sell their excess power to the grid, with Tesla acting as the intermediate agent. According to Tesla, the Powerwall will autonomously select when to charge and when to sell energy, enabling customers to earn credits toward their utility bills. The company might eventually expand the new service to other regions where it operates too.
