Sometimes the tiniest little changes can have a tremendous impact, and Apple proved that when it released the iPhone 13 devices by replacing the plastic film with paper tabs on the back of the box. According to the tech company, the change will save 600 metric tonnes of plastic over the product’s lifespan. Sure, this doesn’t change your life immediately, but think of the impact removing 600 metric tonnes of plastic could have on the environment.

Now imagine if Apple could prevent old and used devices from ending in landfills. The environmental impact will be enormous. Apple announced that instead of throwing away or dumping old Apple devices, the tech giant said customers could trade them in and receive compensation in the form of a credit or gift card that could be used to purchase a new Apple device. Customers can receive up to $730, depending on the device. This new initiative takes Apple further into becoming a carbon-free, sustainable company. The tech company will recycle the used phones and use the materials to make new ones. Customers can visit any Apple store to make the trade or email Apple.
