Is transparent wood a usable product? Not yet but a handful of scientists are exploring it again after 30 years. It won’t be as crystal clear as glass, but it will be stronger and have more thermal capacity to retain inside temperatures. Making wood transparent has other applications.
If wood can replace most plastic products, that would be more environmentally beneficial. Plastic is created from petroleum. Burning fossil fuels is harmful to the environment as it emits greenhouse gases. Plastic does not biodegrade and remains a pollutant on Earth forever.
