Renowned Filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg Presents a Digitally Remastered 4K Version of ‘Fantastic Fungi’ in Theaters Nationwide, Commemorating the 5-Year Anniversary of Its Release.
In anticipation of Earth Day, celebrated filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg is thrilled to unveil an updated, digitally remastered edition of ‘FANTASTIC FUNGI,’ set for a nationwide premiere in Marcus Theatres and various other venues across the country. “FANTASTIC FUNGI REMASTERED” offers audiences an unparalleled viewing experience with enhanced visuals and sound, allowing viewers to immerse themselves fully in the breathtaking beauty and awe-inspiring wonder of the fungal kingdom. Screening Events will include a pre-recorded introduction from Director Louie Schwartzberg, a post-screening Q&A with the filmmaker and select cast members, and one-of-a-kind mushroom-inspired visual sequences.

“FANTASTIC FUNGI REMASTERED” is a transformative cinematic experience delving into the intricate world of mycelium networks. The captivating film guides audiences through an immersive exploration across time and scale, unveiling the enchanting mysteries of the Earth beneath our feet. The underground mycelium network emerges as a powerful force capable of healing and preserving our planet. Noteworthy scientists and mycologists, such as Paul Stamets, and acclaimed authors, including Michael Pollan, Eugenia Bone, and Andrew Weil, provide profound insights. The film sheds light on the beauty, intelligence, and practical solutions offered by the fungi kingdom to address pressing medical, therapeutic, and environmental challenges.
Partnering with Marcus Theaters and event-based distributor Area 23a Schwartzberg, Schwartzberg is proud to bring “FANTASTIC FUNGI REMASTERED” to a minimum of 40 screens across major markets on 4/20 and Earth Day, including Madison, Las Vegas, Columbus, Cedar Rapids, Omaha, and many more.
