The Earth’s first zero-carbon-certified arena is in Seattle, Washington. In 2020, Amazon paid the highest price to buy the naming rights for the Seattle Arena and chose to name it Climate Pledge Arena. Using solar panels on-site and renewable energy off-site, the sustainable arena is powered by 100% renewable electricity.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, has focused on achieving zero-waste status. It took about three years, but by 2020, they had achieved that goal.

Speaking of goal, soccer (aka American football) phenom Lionel Messi took a very ballsy leadership move and launched a partnership with Join The Planet and eyewear brand Karün. All three are staunch supporters of environmental stewardship and climate action. Enjoy your sports teams, especially the ones with sustainability high on their goals!
