SAF is the acronym for Sustainable Aviation Fuel.The UK-based British Airways plans to power its planes with sustainable aviation fuel at the start of 2022. Phillips 66, a multinational energy company that manufactures sustainable aviation fuel from waste feedstock, will supply sustainable aviation fuel to British Airways. The two companies signed the agreement on December 2. The deal marks British Airways’ first big step to its long-term goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Phillips 66 will produce the SAF in its Humber Refinery located in North Lincolnshire.
