Amazon buys into healthcare sector

Amazon’s interest in healthcare is increasing! The multinational technology company has entered into a definitive merger agreement with San Francisco-based, One Medical to acquire the primary care tech provider for about $3.9 billion, which includes its debt.

One Medical has up to 767,000 members and 188 medical offices in 25 markets in the U.S. The primary care provider also works with 8,000 companies, providing healthcare benefits to their employees. Amazon intends to leverage One Medical’s expertise and robust clientele to grow its authority in the healthcare sector.
