Arizona legalized adult-use cannabis in 2020. Business is doing very well in the Aztec State, which generated about $300 million in taxes in 2023 and exceeded more than $1 billion in sales overall. The University of Arizona Health Sciences Department received a $1M grant in late 2022 and launched AzCANN, the Arizona Cannabis Education program.
Their goal is to educate healthcare professionals about cannabis and empower individuals to make healthy decisions about cannabis use based on personal responsibility and knowledge. The University of Arizona offers professional education certifications in cannabis also. This is needed in a nascent industry that is already showing great results.
