It’s always important to stay grounded. If you can, please participate in an Earth Day activity. It was 55 years ago that the first Earth Daycame to be. It was a day orchestrated by a Democratic US Senator from Wisconsin, Gaylord Nelson; and a Republican Congressman from California, Pete McCloskey.
The two put aside their political differences and helped college students organize sit-ins to protest the utter disregard and mismanagement for the care of the environment and the Earth, mostly by polluting big businesses. The struggle continues, especially with the new administration undercutting almost all the legislative gains that have been instituted for decades.
In a brazen and unlawful order to amend regulations so that they expire by October 2026, this administration is in violation of the regulatory policy that sets forth the requirement for a new notice-and-comment proceeding. Denying the public the right to be informed and to be allowed to comment is unconscionable.
