Bluesky on Flipboard

Last week’s AGREEN1 issue covered the upcoming and latest in social media. Still in beta mode (invite required to join), Bluesky is leaning forward into the future of “social web.” It’s the brainchild of Twitter’s co-founder and ex-CEO, Jack Dorsey. Bluesky is a decentralized social media app that aims to fix the problem of algorithms dictating what users see on their feeds.

Right now, what users see on social media is essentially either paid for by advertisers or manipulated by algorithms or bots (fake users). With Bluesky, custom algorithms puts users in charge of what comes into their feeds. This will be a huge change to the users’ timelines and their experience on the platforms.

Bluesky is certainly the future, as it is Dorsey’s opportunity to press the reset button on community discourse platforms. As a public benefit company, it is focused on providing a “decentralized standard for social media.”

Now, ever heard of Flipboard? It’s the only digital social magazine. Flipboard connects publishers and creators to audiences worldwide to share stories that inspire them. Bluesky has now been added to Flipboard’s reading app. Laying the groundwork for what’s coming next
