New Mexico has a new claim to fame. It is where the US will create the largest clean energy infrastructure project ever. As we all lean into a greener-cleaner future, this historic project will provide clean energy to the country’s power grid. The project is called the SunZia Transmission Project.
With a goal of 80% renewable energy sources for total consumption in the US by 2030; this project is more than a kick-start. New Mexico, Arizona, and California will all receive clean and affordable energy from this 4.5 gigawatt project. It is estimated to bring $20.5 billion in economic benefits and requires 2,000 people to complete the project in 2026.
