The use of forever chemicals in the protective gear of firefighters will be banned in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The laws will take effect 2027 for Massachusetts and 2028 for Connecticut. They are the first two states in the US to pass such an important law.

Wives of firefighters led these efforts, when sharing amongst themselves that their young husbands died from prostate cancer. Many of these women are the mothers of children who are following their father’s footsteps with a career as firefighters. This is about saving family members. Let’s hope this action continues, and that PFAS are eliminated completely.
