For years, AGREEN1 has been sharing information about the benefits of hemp for a variety of products. Architects and designers are seeking ways to reduce the carbon footprint of their projects, and they are starting to embrace hemp on their road to sustainability. The beauty of using hemp products for buildings is unprecedented. Hemp provides construction materials that are insulating, fire-repellent, and mold-resistant. To top that, growing hemp plants captures carbon in the atmosphere better than trees twofold.

French brothers of the architectural firm, Lemoal – Lemoal used hemp profusely in the construction of the Pierre Chevet Sports Centre. Construction blocks made from hemp hurds and lime are known as “hempcrete,” and the construction industry has increased access to them. The brothers designed the hempcrete walls to support the roof loads and to provide insulation properties.
