Northern Indiana Public Service Co (NIPSCO) is going green in a big way. It has two major solar farm projects that will provide 700 megawatts of renewable energy in two counties. For the Starke county site, NIPSCO is teaming with EDP Renewables North America to build Dunns Bridge Solar Farm. It will generate $40 million annually for local taxes and it plans to pay landowners up to $1 million annually.

NextEra Energy Resources LLC will oversee the Jasper County project which will power 79,000 homes with 900,000 solar panels. Phase 2 includes an additional 1.5 million solar panels and battery storage. According to the plans, they should be operational in 2023.
