About the Wednesday Issue…

We will share exclusive interviews with the top brass in forward-leaning companies, giving our readers the opportunity to learn about successful enterprises who look destined for even greater success.

AGREEN1 recently conducted an interview with Jessica Velazquez, CEO of FlySoul Shoes.

AGREEN1: Your background is in accounting and you are the CEO of a premiere cannabis accounting firm based out of Las Vegas with offices in numerous states, so how did you become the CEO of FlySoul shoes?

JESSICA VELAZQUEZ: It started in 2019 when a good friend of mine, Peter Holzworth was traveling in central Mexico. He was in a small town and discovered a family of cobblers there. They were creating wonderful handmade shoes as they had done for three generations. He thought it would be great to bring these products to the U.S. market, and I immediately fell in love with the concept.

AG1: Where did the name come from?

JESSICA: Right now the shoes are made of plant material: cotton and yute/jute, and the soul is made from recycled rubber (also a plant). Soon we will have them made with a significant amount of hemp; ideally the shoes will be made of 100% hemp upper. We have a real love for the cannabis plant, which includes hemp for those readers who don’t already know that. Which is to say that the plant is in our souls. And the beautiful ancient Mayan and Aztec motifs, the colors and patterns in the designs are very colorful and fly, so we put those two concepts together and came up with FlySoul Shoes.

AG1: What is special about these shoes and the company?

JESSICA: The shoe is a sustainable plant based product, and we’re working with artisans to support their craft and efforts to bring handmade shoes to the world. Each pair is unique as every person is unique. This is a true craft, it’s artisan and it provides a living wage to people. This helps the cobblers and the village they live in to survive and thrive. We believe in culture, art, sustainability, hemp and cannabis, providing living wages and sharing beautiful and quality products with the whole world. This matters to us.

AG1: Any last comments?

JESSICA: We’re working on so many other product lines. The pandemic slowed things down, but we’re gearing up for a strong 2021 ending. Tell your readers to be on the lookout for belts and products for pets like leashes and collars. We’ll have new shoe styles out very soon online, so please visit our IG account @flysoulshoes or our website, FlySoul Shoes.

We are offering all AGREEN1 readers 15% with code: AGREEN15.
