Lab grown meat clears hurdle

The number of people who believe we must move away from animal production for human consumption grows daily. The FDA just approved lab-grown meat from Upside Foods, which is meat that is created using animal cells. It is also called “cultured meat.”

The cultivated chicken was offered at COP27 climate conference in Egypt this November. Governments give billions of dollars to subsidize livestock farmers; what if some of that money could go to subsidizing the cultured meat industry? The benefit would be less GHG emissions, less water usage, less land usage for grazing, and fewer animals being slaughtered for food.
