Maven seeks serendipity

Connections are important in work and socially, but few would disagree that our current choices are terrible. Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, just to name a few, are full of “bots” (fake profiles) and horrible lies and hate speech. These aren’t real exchanges between humans, but rather a false narrative based on controlling algorithms to benefit those who pay for attention. Most users, especially those under 20 years old are emotionally damaged by them.

Maven is a different social media app. Wired interviewed Maven’s co-founders, and Kenneth Stanley said, “We got rid of likes and follows. That’s like insanity.” Users who enjoy learning about topics should find Maven to be a good fit for them. It is an “open-ended” search system.

Users select topics that they are interested in to create a funnel of conversations about just those topics. Users can select “show me everything”, which allows for the serendipity. Maven is currently available through apps for Android and Apple devices, and via the internet: Maven.
