Where the Himalayan Mountains reach for the sun, the Nepalese citizens use mostly clean, renewable energy from hydroelectric power. With 94% of the population able to access the power grid, and the country’s fast expansion of EV charging networks, Nepal’s aim to reduce oil imports is going very well.

The government offers Incentives to buy EVs, and EV sales are booming. The Nepal Electricity Authority estimates use of EVs has reduced oil import costs by $22 million a year, and the savings are increasing. Nepal is also concerned with protecting development in wildlife sensitive areas.
