Portugal is now second to France as Europe’s cleanest energy producing country. In 2024, Portugal reduced its fossil fuel energy source from 28% in 2023 to 10%. France only used 3.8% fossil fuels in 2024, down from 7.3% in 2023. Following Portugal is Spain in the number 3 spot. It has used only 16.8% fossil fuel energy souces, don from 24.7% in 2023.
Hydro dams and solar parks have really helped Portgual reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.
