Did you know there is a Great Pacific Garbage Patch? In the Pacific Ocean, there is an island of 1.8 trillion pieces of floating plastic garbage, estimated to be almost 80 metric tons—about twice the size of the state of Texas.

Lucky for all of us, there is a nonprofit organization working to help clean up our mess. The nonprofit is called the Ocean Cleanup. It is on target to eliminate the Great Pacific Garbage Patch by 2034.

It won’t be cheap: $7.6 billion, which is about 16.5% of the bonus awarded to Elon Musk, and less than what the US spends ($10.6 billion) on Halloween decorations in one year.
