Amazon has started rolling out its custom electric delivery vehicles (EDVs) manufactured by Rivian (ticker symbol: RIVN). By the end of the year, Amazon plans to have more than 1,000 of them delivering packages across more than 100 cities in the U.S., including Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Seattle, and St. Louis.
Amazon aims to have up to 100,000 Rivian delivery EVs on U.S. roads, running last-mile deliveries, by 2030. This innovative partnership started in 2019 when Amazon committed to decarbonizing its business and using Rivian delivery EVs is one of many steps Amazon plans to take as it works towards achieving its climate goal.
