Goodwill Industries has existed for 120 years to help those in need, by providing free and low cost used goods to anyone, so no I has to go without. Goodwill relies on people in the community to donate household items they are no longer using.

Waltons Five and Dime evolved into Walmart Inc, a popular everything store which operates in 46 countries. It founded the Walmart Foundation, which partnered with 25 Goodwill organizations to create a pilot program to recycle unsold fabrics that would end up in landfills.

The Walmart Foundation provided $1.2 million for this initiative to extend the ability of donated materials to avoid the landfill and bolster the economy through job creation. This is an important component of a circular economy.

Goodwill’s CEO said: “With the support of Walmart Foundation and partners from other sectors of the textile circularity ecosystem, we are developing a number of pathways for goods to minimize waste and maximize value through reuse, remanufacturing and recycling.”
