Under forty years old and car-free for 13 years… in Arizona? The CEO and co-founder of Culdesac, Ryan Johnson, has been car-free for 13 years. His vision of a walkable city broke ground in Tempe, Arizona in 2019.
It’s really happening. The love affair with automobiles is fading. Many, and possibly most Americans dream about living in a walkable city. To them, autos are expensive, polluting, noisy, land hogs and even dangerous. Culdesac is designed a bit like a college campus, and its tagline is “The first car-free neighborhood built from scratch in the US!” It’s nice to have strong options.
