More than 78 jurisdictions, institutions, and businesses have benefited from California’s Cannabis Equity Grants Program in the last two years. It is one of the programs created by California in 2021 to improve inclusion and equity in the cannabis industry, especially for those who have been most affected by the War on Drugs campaign. Over $30 million was awarded to jurisdictions in 2021 and $15 million in 2022.

The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) distributed the funds to 16 cities and counties in the state that applied for the grant in October last year. The state will also award the same amount under the program next year. It will start another grant solicitation in October.
