They’re called charging hubs and Mercedes-Benz is staking its claim with plans to have 400 hubs operational in North America by 2027. Those 400 charging hubs will offer 2,500 high-powered chargers for all EVs, not just Mercedes-Benz EVs.
Mercedes has already adopted the NACS charging system that was brought to market by Tesla. Mercedes-Benz will also be partnering with Simon Properties to offer charging hubs at over 55 malls. The luxury brand is even partnering with Buc-ee’s, a Texas roadside gas station/convenience store chain, saying they plan to have 30 locations up and running within the next 12 months. As Mercedes-Benz builds its charging hub network across North America, it will be interesting to see what they have in store for the premium Mercedes-Benz charging lounges where amenities are not available.
