In the last three years, some NBA officials and players have backed the use of cannabis by players outside the court. They have also fought to end testing of players for cannabis all together. We saw progress last season when the NBA suspended the practice of randomly testing players for cannabis.
The NBA will extend the suspension for the 2021-22 season. On October 6, the NBA said it would only focus its random testing practice on performance-enhancing products and drugs of abuse, such as cocaine and opiates. Looks like the taboos are lifting.
