The dirty on EVs is that they can run through tires at a faster rate because EVs are currently heavier than ICE vehicles. (By the way, in the UK, tires are spelled tyres). When solid state batteries are the norm, they will reduce the weight of current EVs.
London-based Enso Tires is taking on that problem and early testing results are promising;
“The results showed that Enso’s tyres produced less tyre pollution and were more energy efficient than budget range tyres, meaning greater range per battery charge. They were also equal to or better than premium tyres, and the company said they would cost 10% less.”
The EU and California will soon enact regulations against tires that do not comply with their anti-pollution standards.
