The cannabis industry created over 107,000 new jobs in 2021. This 33% increase between 2020 and 2021 contributes to the 27% YoY growth for the last five years according to a jobs report. That’s an average of 1,960 new jobs every week in 2021, during a pandemic with only 11 adult-use states and 27 medical-only states selling products.
California is still the largest cannabis employer by a long shot, with almost 84K jobs. Colorado is number two with 38K jobs. Another fun fact, in 2021 Americans spent $16 billion on milk, $25 billion on cannabis, and $94 billion on beer.
