Library of America, a nonprofit organization, champions the nation’s cultural heritage by publishing America’s greatest writing in authoritative new editions and providing readers with resources to explore this rich, living legacy.

More than a publisher, the Library of America is a vital part of the cultural landscape—an invaluable portal through which the words and ideas that formed and continue to shape America can enrich lives for years to come.

In partnership with the Library of America, the Asylum Theatre presented “Places We Call Home” at Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum located in Las Vegas for an afternoon of professional readings by local actors and reflective conversation. This event is inspired by the upcoming publication of Latino Poetry, a new anthology edited by the poet and critic Rigoberto González to celebrate #HispanicHeritageMonth. The event featured well-known Latino authors such as Julia Alvarez, Gloria Anzaldúa, Francisco X. Alarcón, Richard Blanco, José Olivarez, Mariposa, Maya Chinchilla, and Urayoán Noel. A group of professional readers, including Rosalba Aguirre, Romeo Lopez, Katrina Currow, Graciela Strahan, Jose Anthony, and Gabriella Harris, interpreted and discussed the artistic works in both English and Spanish. Dr. Erika G. Abad facilitated the program.
