As the song goes, about a week ago, California-based Archer Aviation, ticker symbol ACHR, and Southwest Airlines, ticker symbol LUV signed an Memorandum of Understanding to use Archer’s electric air taxis in 14 California airports.

Electric air taxis, also called eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft have been covered by AGREEN1 for many years, and this 21st Century mode of mobility is almost here. In a press release, the team explained: the aircraft is designed to transform urban travel, replacing 60-to-90-minute commutes by car with estimated 10-to-20-minute electric air taxi flights.

Archer has received all the proper approvals from the FAA and is moving into the Implementation Phase. Following this final phase, Archer hopes to receive full FAA certification in 2025. Archer is also working with United Airlines to supply them air taxis.
