If only these cowardly opponents dared to face us openly on the battlefield after Mel Gibson’s stirring speech about freedom, the world might be better.

However, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon in the battle against Alzheimer’s.

The FDA recently approved donanemab (Kisunla), a groundbreaking medication that slows cognitive decline in early or mild Alzheimer’s patients.

Clinical trials have shown that donanemab can reduce cognitive decline by an impressive 35% compared to a placebo. But beating Alzheimer’s requires more than just a magic pill. It’s time for society to come together, armed with exercise, diet, social engagement, and a little fun.

Largest IT Outage in History and No Free Burgers!

We rely on technology to keep our planes flying, our hospitals running, and our society moving forward. It’s comforting to know that there are brilliant minds ensuring everything operates seamlessly. Except, of course, when they don’t.

Take, for instance, our friends at the Texas-based cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike. You might recognize them as the guardians against digital evil, the ones who bravely step in to fix gaps in malware security. Or, as we now know them, the folks who managed to crash an estimated 8.5 million Microsoft Windows devices in a single, glorious swoop.

Last week’s crash, which resulted in the largest IT outage in history, was caused by a bug in CrowdStrike’s Falcon software. The update, intended to patch a security flaw, instead created delightful chaos across multiple sectors. Hospital data systems failed, flights were grounded, and Fortune 500 companies collectively lost an estimated $5.4 billion. It’s reassuring to know our reliance on these tech wizards is so well-placed.

Being the wonderful whiz kidz that they are, CrowdStrike had a plan to make amends. $10 Uber Eats gift cards. Nothing says, “We’re sorry for the chaos,” quite like the promise of a free burger. Unfortunately, this act of culinary contrition fell flat when recipients discovered the vouchers were not redeemable. Yes, in a twist of fate, the food gift cards to apologize for a technical glitch turned out to have their own technical glitches.

The irony is almost too delicious. It’s like a tech Guru forgetting their own Wi-Fi password – hopefully, I didn’t just jinx something right there. The company has since rescinded the offer because if there’s one thing worse than causing the largest IT outage in history, it’s offering unusable consolation prizes.

As we look to the future, we can sleep soundly knowing these technical experts are at the helm. They promise to prevent such a catastrophe from happening again by staggering future software updates. I’m now fully confident that this simple, previously overlooked solution is the key to the future.

So, let’s raise a toast to the tech wizards of our time—the ones who keep our systems functioning, our planes flying, and our society moving forward—so long as you don’t need a functioning food gift card.

In a plot twist that seems more suited to a spy thriller than a sporting event, the assistant head coach and an analyst for the Canada women’s soccer team found themselves booted from the roster after a spying scandal of epic proportions.

Picture this: the serene training grounds of the New Zealand squad in Saint Etienne, disturbed not by an unexpected weather change but by the ominous hum of a drone hovering above. The Canadians were not attempting a new training technique or capturing some innovative aerial footage. No, they were caught red-handed spying on their opponents’ practice session. This incident, barely 72 hours before their match against New Zealand, sent shockwaves through the Olympic village.

Now, let’s address the elephant—or should we say, the drone—in the room. If you’re going to spy, at least be creative. A drone sticking out like a sore thumb in the clear sky? Really? Why not camouflage it to blend in with the surroundings? Perhaps a bird or a blimp—something less conspicuous and more likely to avoid raising alarms. Look, I understand you don’t have the clout to call in a spy satellite to focus on their practice, but still, some effort in camouflaging wouldn’t hurt.

And then there’s the nostalgic part of me that can’t help but question: whatever happened to good old-fashioned binoculars? Remember those? With a powerful enough pair, you could be sitting comfortably in a tree, munching on your lunch, and still get a clear view of the field. Think of the simplicity, the elegance. For the price of that drone, you could have invested in some top-notch binoculars and avoided this whole debacle.

In the aftermath, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) swiftly acted, confirming that head coach Bev Priestman would miss the opening game against New Zealand. Joseph Lombardi, an unaccredited analyst, and Jasmine Mander, the assistant coach, were both sent packing, thanks to their ill-fated drone operation.

The police investigation, coupled with the COC’s findings, unearthed a second drone incident just days before. This led to mandatory ethics training for Canada Soccer staff—a crash course in what not to do at international sporting events.

Throughout my travels, I have learned that when trying to share important information, it is best to try an approach that resonates with the listener.

Hey guys, I just heard about something really cool and important: a rare white buffalo calf that was born in Yellowstone National Park. This isn’t just any baby bison; it has deep cultural and spiritual significance for the Lakota people.

And now that I see your eyes rolling, let me ask you this.

What if I wanted to tell you about a TV show starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya as the leaders of a group of friends who stumble upon the birth of the rare white buffalo calf in Yellowstone? They want to learn about its significance and embark on a journey to honor and protect the calf, uncovering lessons about nature, culture, and community along the way.

Ah, the 4th of July! Or, as we all affectionately call it, BBQ, Fireworks, and Beer Day. It’s that special time of year when we gather around flaming grills, set off explosives in our backyards, and conveniently forget the actual reason for the celebration. Who cares about a ragtag bunch of farmers and merchants who defeated the most powerful military machine on the planet? There are perfectly good burgers to char and sparklers to wave, right?

The Founding Fathers and Grilled Burgers

Imagine Thomas Jefferson penning the Declaration of Independence with one hand while flipping a burger with the other. “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Medium-Rare.” George Washington would be manning the grill, ensuring no burger was left behind. And Benjamin Franklin? He’d be the one experimenting with the perfect homemade barbecue sauce—guaranteed to be electrifying.

Fireworks: Because Nothing Says Freedom Like Explosives

What better way to honor our nation’s independence than by scaring pets and waking up the entire neighborhood with a dazzling display of fireworks? I’m sure nothing screams “patriotism” more than watching colorful explosions in the sky, hoping the kids don’t set the lawn on fire.

Here’s to our forefathers who fought for our right to overcook meat and underappreciate historical significance. As we slather homemade barbecue sauce on our burgers, let’s remember: nothing says freedom quite like a well-seasoned patty and a pyrotechnic display.

Who needs the distraction of switching apps or using a separate browser when you can scribble on your screen and get instant answers? What could be more natural than circling your screen like a crazy artist every time curiosity strikes?

It looks like the Doodle Pad is out of a job. Thank you, Google, for making sure we never have to endure the horror of using paper and pen again.

If It Ain’t Broke, Google Will Fix It

Let’s not forget the age-old wisdom: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” In its infinite wisdom, Google has decided that the way we’ve been searching all these years is fundamentally flawed. Who knew?

Crafting a DIY Board Game to Mock Media Manipulation

It would seem the Society we live in actually stands for “Strategically Omitting Critical Information Enabling Trivial Yarns.” Everywhere you turn, it’s another disinformation campaign.

Why do we call it disinformation when it’s actually lies? Do we call it disinformation because it sounds more acceptable? It makes it seem like a cheeky little rascal is to blame.

Our big game is establishing a world where the truth is a rare commodity, auctioned off to the highest bidder. Welcome to the absurdity of modern information warfare!

Today, cable news stations are used as weapons right before our eyes. At least when they developed the atomic bomb, they did it in secret. Fake news is a full-blown industry. Tech giants manipulate narratives for their gain.

What do you say to a satirical exploration of the ludicrous world of disinformation? Who needs an educated and informed society anyway?

But we won’t stop there. To truly grasp the ridiculousness of it all, we’ll introduce a DIY board game that you can create using repurposed items to mock the world of the Deception Dealer.

Picture a board game where players battle to spread the most outrageous fake news and score points doing it! You know, just like cable news stations.

Have cable news on and challenge each other as to what part of the story was fact, what was opinion, and what was just plain sensationalism.

Use old washed-out K-Cups to design your own custom game pieces and recycled paper as currency to catch and kill stories. Better yet, take the sensational story and run with it, making it as outrageous as you possibly can!

Search around the house and find coins, bottle caps, colored paper clips, Post-it notes, dice, buttons, chips, or tokens for the most creative player to use as medals, trophies, and awards. Magazine cutouts or index cards can create your own unique playing deck.

The fun is mocking people who try to use lies to manipulate us by creating a board game that pokes fun at their tactics.

Just make sure the rules include:

– Creating ways to twist and manipulate events and conversations to influence public opinion.

– Using fake accounts, bots, and paid influencers to spread harmful content more widely.

– Using social media ad tools to find and engage the people most likely to spread false information.

– Using fake accounts and trolls to silence journalists, opposing views, and honest content.

And don’t forget the snacks! Here are some simple “information snack” recipes for your disinformation party:

Objective

The objective of the game is to score points by playing sets of cards that represent sustainable living choices, with each set consisting of one Spade (mindful consumption), one Heart (waste reduction), one Club (sustainable choices), and one Diamond (energy efficiency).

Setup

  1. Shuffle and cut the 54-card deck (standard 52 cards plus 2 jokers). Deal five cards to each player.
  1. Deal 10 cards face down to the side (these cards are not used for this round).
  1. Place the rest of the deck in the middle as the draw deck and flip the top card to start the discard pile.

Gameplay

  1. Players take turns starting with the dealer. On a player’s turn, they can:

Draw one card from the draw deck or the top card from the discard pile.

Play a Sustainable Living Group (one card from each suit: Spade, Heart, Club, Diamond) representing sustainable living choices. These cards are laid face up on the table.

At the end of their turn, players are required to discard a card if they have more than five cards in their hand. Discarding is optional if they have five or fewer cards. A discarded card is placed face up and is now the top card of the discard pile.

The game continues until one player has no cards left in their hand after discarding at the end of their turn or until the draw pile is exhausted, and neither player wishes to take the top card from the discard pile.

Scoring

Players score 10 points for each completed set of cards (one Spade, one Heart, one Club, one Diamond) representing sustainable living choices laid down during the game.

Points are deducted for the cards remaining in a player’s hand at the end of the game:

  • 4 points deducted for each remaining Spade.
  • 3 points deducted for each remaining Heart.
  • 2 points deducted for each remaining Club.
  • 1 point deducted for each remaining Diamond.

The player with the highest total score (points from completed sets minus points deducted for remaining cards) wins the round.

Winning!

You can choose to score by rounds or keep a running total of points until someone achieves a predetermined score. The choice is yours, just like the sustainable choices you can make, so we all end up winning.

This set of rules provides a comprehensive framework for playing the Sustainable Living Cards game, encouraging strategic decision-making and sustainable living choices throughout the gameplay.

I always bet on a team if their star player looks like Barbara Hershey did in Hoosiers.

I always bet against any state where I still have a bench warrant for too many speeding tickets.

I bet on the favorite if my cat hits the litter box.

I bet on the underdog if my dog faints after getting a whiff of my “lucky” socks.

I bet against teams if their home state doesn’t grow anything that can go on nachos.

I pick teams based on whether my favorite frozen cocktail matches their uniform colors.

I choose teams based on which one of their mascots looks more like I’ve decided to remember my ex.

I always bet on a team if any starter looks like Marvin the Martian in Space Jam.

You add the seed numbers of the two teams together and then divide it by the combined IQ of the referees. If the answer is more than one, bet on the underdog.

I double-check all my picks by consulting a Magic 8 Ball and throwing darts with my eyes closed.

So sure and begorrah let’s give it a go!
Annual bonuses would come in the form of magically multiplying gold coins.
No more office politics with a wave of the Leprechaun’s magical hand that will disappear and be replaced with Lord of the Dance lessons.
Leprechauns are experts at avoiding responsibility, which means they are exactly like your boss (skip this one).
If a leprechaun catches you taking a break, they’re more likely to offer you a pint of Guinness than scold you for not being productive.
The office printer will always be filled with rainbow ink.
Instead of quarterly reports, we’d receive treasure maps with X marking the spots of our goals.
Monday morning meetings are followed immediately by an hour of Fun and Frolic!

Top 10 Reasons Why Springing Forward for Daylight Savings Time is Just the “Best Damn Thing Ever”

Sunlight is overrated. Waking up to darkness feels like a warm, cozy hug from insomnia.

It’s like a mini adventure to start the day trying to figure out if your phone automatically updated or if you are now Marty McFly living in a time warp.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to test the durability of my alarm clock by hitting the snooze button an extra 50 times. Who knew a simple button could become a competitive sport?

Losing an hour of precious sleep is a great way to see how long you can function on pure caffeine and willpower.

You get to spend quality time bonding with your ceiling as you lie awake at night, engaging in an intense staring contest until one of you falls asleep. Spoiler alert! The ceiling always wins.

Driving in the dark in the morning is an exhilarating experience. It’s like navigating through a mysterious realm of shadows and joggers in dark clothing.

Who doesn’t love bonding with your fellow sleep-deprived comrades over shared tales of woe and exhaustion because nothing brings people together quite like collective suffering?

Who needs consistency and stability in their daily routine when you can have anarchy and confusion. Embrace the havoc, for it is the spice of life!

Throwing off my sleep schedule twice a year is like a biannual jet lag extravaganza. Who needs a vacation when you can experience time zone confusion from the comfort of your own home?

Because panic attacks are great cardio.

The season is over.
A moment of silence, please.
Now we need a new sport to bridge the gap between today and the next rookie camp.
Look, I know they have these other sports. They even have playoffs and championships, which is very, very cute.
However, it’s not the physical grabbing and knocking down with such force they have to ride off the field on that little golf cart thingy.
With the exception of the occasional on-court NBA riot (fan involvement optional) at no extra charge, by the way, that is very good for the league.
Oh, and hockey gets an honorable mention for the blood being left on the ice after a fight. But if they would allow inserting the puck anywhere into your opponent as a way of scoring bonus points, its popularity would skyrocket throughout the world.
The problem is we are still left feeling a little empty because we need a true test of all of our athletic abilities, like pushing, shoving, hitting, and knocking down, and not just in celebration after a touchdown.
So may I suggest something new.
Roller Dart Eater!
The Ultimate Hybrid Sport!
Roller Dart Eater is a fusion of roller derby, darts, and competitive eating.
Ever dreamed of watching someone roller skate, throw darts, and stuff their face with food all at the same time?
Of course, you have!
Teams consist of five players each, and all of them will play throughout the game as Roller Skaters, Dart Throwers, and Eaters.
You play on an oval track with a central eating area and dart boards positioned around the perimeter.
Picture this! Teams of skaters hurtling around a track trying to pass opponents to score points and still trying to hit the bullseye, and not their opponents, to score more points.
It’s a test of agility, accuracy, and a very understanding Health Plan.
But wait, there’s more! Interspersed throughout the match are competitive eating challenges.
At random points during each quarter, there is a signal for everyone to head to the eating areas.
Imagine every player scarfing down hot dogs, devouring plates of nachos, and tossing back tacos. Then, after the eating time limit is up, everybody has to get back on the track and skate!
Everyone knows belly aches add a whole new dimension to any sport.
Points are awarded for each opponent passed on the track, accuracy of dart throws and for the quantity and speed of food consumption. Points are deducted for hitting your opponent with a dart “accidentally”.
Food items must adhere to the safety and health standards of any frat party.
Fair play and sportsmanship are enforced to the same degree as professional wrestling.
And all safety gear worn is designed by the same guys who made sure that the door was secure on the 737 Max.
Roller Dart Eater!
It’s like the Olympics, the circus, and a food festival rolled into one!
Only time will tell if Roller Dart Eater will capture the hearts (and stomachs) of the masses.
But one thing’s for sure, it’s a spectacle that’s bound to leave a lasting impression.
Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines or nervously eyeing the nearest antacid.

No Coffee?
Last night, before we went to bed, my wife casually mentioned that she thought I drank too much coffee. In the middle of the night, I woke up in a cold sweat from the scariest dream I ever had. There were no more coffee shops in the world. They had all been closed by order of my wife. I couldn’t believe it. There had to be some mistake. This was criminal!
Clearly, depriving me of this essential elixir poses a risk to public safety! Without my morning coffee, I become a danger to society, prone to committing irrational acts like trying to brew coffee in the toaster or opening an energy drink.
Depriving me of my morning coffee turns me into a walking advertisement for a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Imagine a world where morning meetings are conducted without the soothing aroma of freshly brewed coffee. It’s a dystopian nightmare! Depriving me of my coffee is not just a crime against me but against all productivity and workplace morale.
No coffee would be like depriving a superhero of their powers. Without it, I transform into a sluggish, zombie-like creature, incapable of functioning at even a basic human level.
Coffee is my legal drug of choice, and denying me access to it in the morning is akin to denying medication to someone. Imagine Wolverine off his meds.
I woke up my wife and the two of us talked it over and finally agreed to let me have my coffee. It’s for everyone’s safety.
We also agreed to never speak of me and my coffee again.
